NHMA Monthly Meeting Minutes

January 2005

 

 

The January 2005 meeting Of the NHMA was convened on January 11th, at 1:13 pm, President Tim Mills presiding.  Six members were in attendance and two guests Commodore George Pendergast and his wife Vice Commodore First CG District, Penny Pendergast..  The Secretary’s report was accepted as read.  The Treasurer accepted as read, with the establishment of a DBA NHMA checking account being established with a balance of $225.00.

 

Old Business

Web Site – Web Site is up and running. Moses Calouro will begin to populate with information as provided. A recommendation was made to remove present advertisements from the site as they are “Free Bee’s” and we need to start soliciting for paying customers. I was agreed that corporate membership dues would entitle you to a business card size advertisement space on the site.

 

By-Laws – The Executive board reviewed the proposed by-laws. Several recommendations were recommended and approved. A motion was made to enact the By-Laws as amended, seconded and approved.

 

 

New Business

 

Web Site – Sale of advertisements to promote NHMA was discussed. Each member was
 encouraged to bring back companies with contacts. Recommendation was made to establish advertisement cost for web site at the Feb 2005 meeting.  Discussion followed about the possibility of discounting the price to “Plank Owner” Corporate members for the first year. It was reiterated that fundraising has to be a top priority in order for the NHMA to establish legitimacy.
Commodore Pendergast mentioned that he could introduce membership possibilities at the CG Auxiliary’s upcoming NTRAIN conference to be held in St. Louis, MO. Jan 26,27,28 2005.

 

Membership Cards Matt Calouro to researched the cost and recommended that we go with a paper card to start. This would reduce start-up cost and a move to a laminate type card could be made once funding and the budget permits.


                                                         Open Discussion

 

Matt Calouro – The Rhode Island Harbormasters Association Annual Meeting and Training Seminar will be held at Rodger Williams University on March 31 and April 1, 2005.

 

Next Meeting – Tuesday February 8th, 2005, Bristol Harbormasters Office, Bristol RI.  10:00 AM

Motion made to adjourn, and 2nd, all in favor, 2:20 PM
